it's often amazing to me that any of us survived to adulthood. remember all those toys we had as kids that they banned or changed because someone might hurt themselves? we had lawn darts. can't find those anymore. playskool little people are not little anymore so kids can't swallow them. and now the latest abomination is the comeback of weebles. weebles were great back in the day. now they are, again, much larger than their former counterparts, and it's so unnecessary. i mean, they were egg shaped before. how the hell could a kid have swallowed one of those? if they did, they deserved whatever outcome they got for being so stupid. darwinism at its finest.

incidentally, john didn't know what weebles were. i know new hampshire was not in touch with the rest of the world (still isn't), but how sad to have not had weebles when they were cool.

you both are not speaking of the darwinism that darwin intended... you are in fact speaking of herbert spencer's ideology of social darwinism which surfaced somewhere around 1856/1857... this type of darwinism is often referred to as a pseudoscience.... the construction of ideas surrounding social darwinism is key to why things such as classism, racism, and all those isms exist... social darwinism adapts a certain "sink or swim" mentality to the idea of "natural selection"... and since there is nothing "natural" at all about a weeble wobble, i would argue that kids who choke on them do not in fact deserve to choke.... and it does not mean that they are unadaptable the the "natural environment"...

yes but weeding out the stupid is not darwinism, it is social darwinism and there is a big difference. we use social darwinism to be funny and as a way for us to make fun of people that do stupid things; but where do we draw the line? bc crazies will use social darwinism to say that poor people are poor bc they are not intelligen enough and/or do not have enough of a work ethic to succeed therefore bc of "social darwinism" their status in society is justifiable. its a thin line indeed.

i just wanted to use the term social darwinism...
its fun...
spencer is an idiot...
i wanted to seperate spencer from darwin b/c darwin's ideas make sense and spencer's ideas do not...
