i had a very boring training at the Olmstead center friday. while on lunch break, i decided to walk down Summer St. to visit my old officemates. as i was walking back, i passed by a guy. being a generally nice person, i looked at him and smiled. he appeared to be a classy young guy. then he proceeded to say that it was nice to meet me, made an air kiss noise at me, and said he loved me. i just shook my head and kept walking. this brought to mind a couple of thoughts. first of all, does that approach generally work? because i wasn't overly wooed at that moment. second of all, it reminded me that this used to happen a LOT when i worked on Summer St. it's a great neighborhood so any chance i got to walk anywhere - mailbox, Wilson Farms, Children's, etc. - i'd take it, and i really was frequently hit on by totally random men. i'm not offended or anything. i tend to find it both amusing and flattering. good for my ego, i guess. i just want to know, what is it about that neighborhood that it happens there so often?
