sal_amanda | The new theme song I'm likely to hate

i have been plagued my whole life with people singing Barry Manilow to me. "Oh, Mandy..." makes me absolutely cringe. Boston then came out with "Amanda," which is a very minimal step up, since i'm not exactly a fan of theirs, either.

but no one cool has ever put out a song with my name in it. the closest i've ever come is a cover of Barry by Me 1st and the Gimme Gimme's, but it's still Barry, and that's hard to make cool.

so now there's a new "Mandy" song. A trio of adolescent brothers a la Hanson, but a little more modern pop/punk. the Jonas Brothers were on TRL when i turned the tv on this morning (mike left MTV on last night) premiering the first of three episodic videos they've created for this song.

it's catchy. the boys are bound to be all over teen magazines. it's still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Barry Manilow. but it's probably going to get annoying quickly.

someone needs to enlist Ben Folds to write a song with my name in it.
