just wanted to send a shout out to my friend Kristina who tells me she's actually been reading this while she's anxiously waiting to give birth.

while she's waiting for the real thing, this past Friday i took four girls i work with to get Baby Think It Over dolls. it was a very interesting weekend for all four of them, two of which failed for shaking their babies. the other two failed for being neglectful. in their defense, the real problem was that their wristbands frequently didn't connect to the spot on the baby's back like it's supposed to before you can feed, change, rock, etc. the baby. therefore, they either came up as neglectful or perhaps as shaking the baby while trying to twist their wristband.

an interesting side effect of this exercise is that they've all decided that they would rather adopt than have babies of their own. go figure.

maybe you might want to explain that adopted children still need to be feed and changed...
