i fucking paid $2.699 for gas today. that fucking sucked.
now i received a couple of those e-mails where you they tell you that everyone should just not get gas on a particular day.
if anyone is interested and hasn't heard, the day in question is September 1st.
the thing is, i don't entirely get how that works. i mean, everyone will probably just make sure they have gas the day before if they're really worried, or wait until the day after if they can. or not really care because they won't need gas that day anyway. either way, people will still buy the gas if and when they need it.
so does this really work? i applaud people wanting to do something to protest how ridiculous this is, but something bigger needs to be done.
hybrids are starting to look extremely appealing now that they're making some with 4 wheel drive.

Date: 2005-08-31 01:31 am (UTC)From:Most hybrids still aren't actually worth the cost - my first NEW new car is going to be a hybrid but until then I'll stick with my 15-year-old 5-speed manual getting 25+ mpg when I drive it not entirely like a madman or my '96 Taurus that gets 30+mpg if I never take it over 2000RPM.
If you want to be a crazy hippie, then start letter-witing campaigns and take public transportation.
I'd also like to point out that at these prices, you're better off buying premier-grade gas, because 1.) It's less than a 10% increase in cost, 2.) you get a bit more mileage out of it, and 3.) it's better on your engine and exhaust.

it's too bad the suburbanites surrounding me are afraid of minorities, because i would love to be able to actually take the subway somewhere. but since they don't want anyone with a different skin tone in their neighborhoods, they blocked the subway from making it out this way, thus making it rather pointless for most.
