so we had some bonus rewards from our Amazon credit card and i decided to use part of mine to get the new Paul Anka cd, Rock Swings, which is a concept album involving him doing swing versions of various rock and pop songs.

not too shabby. i'm particularly a fan of his versions of "Eye of the Tiger," "Wonderwall," and "Jump." i think that's because they're really upbeat, though. i'm not overly fond of when he gets more ballad-y with the covers. for example, i felt really uncool while listening to his version of "Lovecats," which is a song i normally loooooooooooooooove.

and did he know that "Blackhole Sun" has already been swingified? there's a great version on the Loungapalooza cd that came out when i was in college that i recommend over Paul Anka's any day.

but overall, it's entertaining and definitely amusing. here's the full track listing:

1) It's My Life (Bon Jovi)
2) True (Spandeau Ballet - which i had to look up)
3) Eye of the Tiger (Survivor, right?)
4) Everybody Hurts (R.E.M.)
5) Wonderwall (Oasis)
6) Blackhole Sun (Soundgarden)
7) It's a Sin (Pet Shop Boys)
8) Jump (David Lee Roth's Van Halen)
9) Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana)
10)Hello (Lionel Ritchie)
11)Eyes Without a Face (Billy Idol)
12)Lovecats (The Cure)
13)The Way You Make Me Feel (Michael Jackson)
14)Tears in Heaven (Eric Clapton)

I thought the arrangements were highly enjoyable on most of the songs... Lovecats definitely lacked, though
