friday was my last day of work. i tried to slip out quietly, but it was not to be. most of admin managed to come down to say good-by, including the boss and the big boss, who both gave me a hug.
i'm not sure all the shorties realized i was leaving, but i bought them all ice cream sandwiches anyway as a nice little treat. got lots of hugs from both children and parents who knew it was my last day.
jose, one of the maintenance guys, seems to believe i'm only going on vacation.
for dinner we had pancakes and sausage. i love breakfast for dinner. but didn't catch the warning to not eat too much, as the teens had plans for me for the evening.
i was banished from the cafe while they decorated so we did a couple rounds of Karaoke Revolutions.
then we had pizza and wings and they gave me little heartfelt presents and took lots of pictures. i spent a lot of time trying to cheer up the ones with tears. especially sara, who pretty much orchestrated the whole event.
it's nice to be loved, but i do hate to cry in public.
so then i had to come home and pack up real quick to get to mom's while they were away for their annual anniversary trip to Letchworth.
the cat has a respiratory infection so her breathing makes her sound like Darth Vader. seriously. i'm not exaggerating at all. so i called her Darth Kitty all weekend, which i like better than her actual name (Sharon). due to allergies, we weren't letting her into the room where we were sleeping, but she tried. we had to make a break for the room and shut the door quickly so she wouldn't get in.
but we could hear her out there, breathing loudly, even with the door shut and the fan on. then she started scratching at the door. i felt like i was in a horror movie with the heavy breathing and scratching, with only the door for protection. crazy.
and you know you must be moved on and comfortable in your own home when going back to the house you grew up in is really annoying. although i do miss having the canal path right across the street. rollerskating and dog walks, yay!
so now i have a few weeks of housework to catch up on, which is fine since i'm not working at the moment. so i'll get the neglected work done and then maybe next week i can start doing some stuff i actually do want to do. can't wait.
