Friday:

on arriving home early from an all day diversity training, which was good despite having already seen the 90 minute video we watched, i just didn't feel like driving all the way to Lewiston for a party at Liz's all metal house. as tempting as that offer was, i know i can see it some other time so john went ahead without me and i had a totally wasted evening all to myself.

Saturday:

rolled out of bed and went in to work for a brief period to finish some monthly reports and subtly sneak some of my belongings out of my office so that when i can finally quit, i'll have less to clean out. i even made a list of what's left of mine so that should it end badly, i'll know what's still there that i need to get from somebody.

went home to clean the turtle and the bathrooms. how's that for fun and excitement? so fun, in fact, that instead of going to get groceries afterwards, i wound up taking a bit of a power nap. oh well.

did a double header at the movies. saw "Sideways" with john. good, but didn't live up to the hype. i really enjoyed the discussion where they explain why they like wine. it was parallel to the way people can be and i loved it. then saw "Finding Neverland" with sheila. that was wonderful and even better than the hype. it was beautiful in its sadness and even happy in its sadness.

stopped off at Mighty Taco on the way to get a beer at Chester's. there was a couple at Mighty about ready to have sex in the foyer. other people in Mighty were also rather interesting, but i suppose that's to be expected at 11:30 on a saturday night. beer at Chester's was good as we wasted money on the computer trivia game, but it was worth our domination of both the Entertainment and Weird & Wild categories.

Sunday:

tried to get moving quickly, but got a call from my mom, which is never a short conversation, no matter how much i try. went through the want ads while eating so i could pass them on to sheila. nothing for me. some potential for her. finally got to Wegman's and i warned john not to spend forever picking out one item, but he still took five minutes to decide on just what kind of tuna he wanted, among other weighty decisions. we then had the slowest cashier in existence. he looked like he was about 14, but had a deeper voice than most men i know. he never made any kind of eye contact with either of us and just did not seem overly concerned with our obvious impatience, including a call to sheila i made while in line to let her know that i may never make it out of the grocery store. rude, i know, but this kid was really awful.

then sheila and i went on our Mardi Gras shopping trip. i'm very glad that she is getting into the spirit of MG because this ought to be a good time. we spent way too much time in Joann Fabrics, but we have material for togas and for sheila's bridal veil. we just have to find time to make them...
