Listen to this craziness. If you recall our previous installment in adoption drama, we spoke with a birth mom who then wound up picking a friend of mine instead, all for very good reasons that we completely understand. Anyway. This friend of mine dropped me a Facebook message yesterday that her son's birth mom is 7 weeks pregnant and would like to place this child with her, as well. She has mentioned to me in the past before she had her home study updated that if that were ever to occur, she would do what she could to make it happen. Now with the idea that she'll have a baby in just a few weeks, she's faced with this prospect. Two babies in such a short period of time is a major financial commitment, with the cost of two adoptions, time off from work, and daycare. But at the same time, she's said that the thought of her son's half-sibling being placed with someone else makes her feel ill.
I really feel for her and don't envy her one bit having to deal with this situation. But selfishly, I can't help but think that if this birth mom had found out and come to the agency just a few weeks sooner, we'd all be happily expecting right now.
