Well, we had a call about a profiling opportunity today, but we had to decline.  The birth mom has placenta previa and though she's not due until November 17th, the doctors feel that it would actually be lower risk to do a c-section at the end of August.  Meaning the baby would be three months early.  Which means a very extended stay in the NICU.  And this is in Ft. Lauderdale.  No way that we could pull off an extended stay in Florida.  It's not even an area of Florida where we know people we could stay with for an extended period of time, but neither of us could really be away for 1-3 months.

But I don't feel too terribly bad.  The birth mom had actually requested a married couple in their 40s or 50s because her adoptive parents are getting divorced and in her mind, she sees an older couple as being more mature and more likely to stay together.  So it might not have been a good chance for us anyway.

It sounds like there's a birth mom out there for every situation, based on the preferences you have been telling us. That bodes well for me believing some day when I want to adopt, I'll find a birth mom looking for an old crazy lady with lupus and an unnatural love of Mardi Gras.

sounds like all-around the right decision for both parties.
