1) The work trip. I survived. I did cry the day I left, but was much better once I got there and realized I had three days to myself. Nora was not phased at all. Granted, we did video chat on Skype everyday so she was kind of over my absence since she still got to see me. I also cried once on the way home, but that was because airport security confiscated the plastic snowglobe I bought for Nora (because it was a liquid of unspecified quantity) and I was just pissed off about it.
2) The drug overlord next door. I don't know if he's out on bail or if someone is still at his house, but someone has been putting the garbage out, so I guess we don't need to worry about the lawn getting overgrown just yet. They made a big deal in the Buffalo News about him being a pee wee football coach in Buffalo, but I'm rather surprised that no one is jumping on the fact that he lives in a very suburban, family-oriented neighborhood. In fact, other than mentioning the address of his home where he was arrested, that's all the mention it got. And I'm disappointed in the Amherst Bee for not saying anything about the story at all. If our other neighbor hadn't seen the address in the Buffalo News article, we'd never have known. The articles had said that they confiscated some bar in Buffalo he owns and his truck, but since they didn't confiscate this house, I wonder if he was very smart about it and put it in his girlfriend's name. I would.
3) Adoption stuff. We are now done with our classes, but we have lots more to do. We have to do some educational stuff on our own that we have to figure out. Medical appointments. Getting the room ready and washing unbelievable amounts of clothing and other stuff that needs to be sterilized. And the adoption profile that will be looked at by birth parents. John has spearheaded the graphic design of this, which I'm very grateful for, but we are trying to mesh what pictures and content we each want and we're both getting a little testy about it. We should be lucky that we actually have 24 pages. Some agencies ask you to only have 6 pictures or just two pages. So yes, we're lucky we get to represent ourselves as well as we do, but narrowing it down is tricky and we each have our favorites. But we also need to keep this thing simple in order to avoid overloading someone. So, yeah, we're working on that.
Meanwhile, Nora's birthday is coming up and why, why, why don't they make Super Why party merchandise? That would make our lives so much easier.
