My neighbors gave Nora a toy cell phone. It's pink and part of the whole Disney Princess thing. I don't personally have anything against any individual Disney Princess. In fact, this one is Sleeping Beauty and that's my favorite of that genre, and the only one we own on DVD. I think it's the whole collective Princess thing that bugs me. It's just so, I don't know, girly. My digression aside, Nora absolutely loves this cell phone. She likes toy phones, in general, but she's getting a lot of mileage out of this one. However, one of the things it says when you press the buttons is, "Don't you just love being a princess?" And every time she gets that one, she repeats "princess" afterwards. Sigh.
Anyhoo. The dreaded road trip will be here shortly, but there is one change. We will now be staying in the bed and breakfast next door to John's aunt's place. They have just not been able to figure out how everyone can stay in the house and their bathrooms were supposed to be repaired by now, but it hasn't happened yet, and it really is a lot of stress for them. John's folks might have been the obvious choice to stay elsewhere since they are most able to afford it and will be leaving first, but somehow or another it's going to be us staying at the B&B, and that will be part of our Christmas present from John's parents. I suppose it makes sense since I keep making John call up to make sure they have our room toddler-proofed and seeing if there's a way to rig the door to make sure they latch better than usual (old house with old latches). I'm sure I'm being a pain in the ass enough that it's easier just to have us somewhere else. ;) But really, I think Judy is probably doing me a big favor orchestrating this one.
How will this change the sleeping dynamics? It probably won't really. I'll definitely have to be in the room with her when she's sleeping now, of course. I might even get to catch up on some sleep since I'll be in there with her so much. I hope I will not be a distraction to her. But I can keep the door locked and not have to worry about her wandering off at night while I'm sleeping.
I know, I know. The funny thing about me is that I don't consider myself to be overly imaginative, but I really am when it comes down to thinking of the worst case scenario.
But we have sooooooooooo much stuff we're going to be taking with us. I don't know how we're going to fly when we go to Florida in April.
