I haven't written anything drama-free in a while.  So here's some random stuff.

Nora is now 18 months, or if you're a math geek like me, she's 1.5 years old.  Her height is still pretty high on the charts while she is consistently middle of the road for weight, essentially making her a stringbean.  And it's getting to be more and more torso than leg.  Like, her 2t pants need to be rolled, but she's starting to be able to wear some 3t shirts.  Oh, and I'm all about those adjustable pants because everything falls off of her skinny belly.

And she's officially reached that stage of picky eating.  It could be worse.  It's not like she only has one food she eats at all times.  She really does love pretty much every fruit in existence and many veggies, but too much of that is not good for one's digestive system.  She's just recovering from a pretty nasty yeast rash so I'd rather not over-irritate it.

Anyhoo.  We just had our 6 year anniversary.  For our annual day trip, we crossed the border and went to the Butterfly Conservatory.  It was pretty cool, especially because butterflies kept crashing into John's head, proving that he really is just too tall.  I should have worn brighter colors or something because they weren't attracted to my black shirt, but I did get one that landed on my orange sneakers and another one apparently was attracted to the Polish eagle on my bag.

I've been busy with school and internship.  I like my internship, but I wish I was doing more.  I spend more time on the computer than I would like, but as the semester progresses, I'm hoping to have more interaction with actual people.  I think I am being under utilized.

I have to take a comprehensive exam before I can get this degree and since I'm only taking one elective next semester, I'm opting to take the exam this semester.  I may live to regret this, but I think I'll probably be really pleased with myself for getting it out of the way.  It's just a matter of finding the time to study for it with all that I'm currently juggling.  My research class is pretty involved and has a lot of outside stuff that needs doing, and then I'm presenting at a conference in November on this research project so I really have to have most of the final project done by then.  The comp exam is in early November, about a week or so before the conference.  So by Thanksgiving, I ought to be doing all right.  Maybe.

In the meanwhile, I'm trying to read things that I actually want to read at the end of the day before I go to bed at night and I have some options and can't decide what to start on next after I finish my new Bust Magazine.  Interestingly, they all seem to involve vampires.  I picked up Twilight since it's all the rage and there will be a movie of it soon.  I have the first book in the series that led to HBO's True Blood, thanks to Julie.  I also have a book called You Suck, which is supposed to be good.  And of course if I like the ones that are part of a series of books, I'll feel compelled to get more of them to read.  So I think I have myself tied up with books for a while.  If I only I can decide where to start...

And back to Nora being 18 months old for a minute, but in terms of what that means for me as someone who has been recovering from pregnancy for 18 months.  I'm just about at pre-pregnancy weight finally.  However, pre-pregnancy clothes do not necessarily fit yet as the weight has apparently been redistributed.  I can put the pants on and I can zip them up just fine, but there's a real nice muffin top hanging over the edges and it's not so much on the comfy side.  Well, I knew I wanted to keep on losing some weight once I got here anyway.  What's really annoying is that the pants I am currently wearing are clearly too big for me and I look like I'm just swimming in them all the time.  So here's to getting back into those old pants sooner rather than later.  As if 18 months wasn't long enough.

I tried to watch True Blood. Can't do it. Matt seems to love it though.

1. Nora sounds like she is built like my kids... which is amusing to me, since you are probably 1/2 a foot shorter than me. John must have some really powerful genes.

2. Um... you somehow managed to make me feel like a serious under-achiever. I am impressed and awed by all you have taken on this semester.

3. The redistribution of body weight never fails to astound me. I am within just a couple pounds of when I was married, but believe me, it is a very different body. I'm super-excited to experience the changes that menopause will bring on down the road. :P

I've juggled one child and nursing school, one child and working, two children and working, but never a child/children with working AND school.

You absolutely should be proud of yourself. It is a lot to balance, and I'm sure it is very tiring.

Hah, there's currently a Recommended Reading display up in my Teen Library Room of vampire books! I just refreshed it yesterday-- figure I at least have to keep it up through Halloween.

Funny about the redistribution of weight thing-- In the past month with this pregnancy I find my pants are already starting not to fit right (in tightness) again-- but from being sick, I've actually LOST about ten pounds in this past month!

You have THE BOOK and you haven't read it yet? For shame. You know not what you are missing. I have just started the last book (so far) of the series on audiobook and I'll be very sad when I have to wait for more. Some of my RAs are obsessed with the Twilight series, and they showed me the movie trailer (everyone on the office had to be silent while it was on), but it looked really cheesy. I can only hope the books are better.

You mentioned sneakers which reminded me - want a pair of light green Converse mary janes in a size 8? Worn once? I don't know why I always buy Converse when I find them on clearance, I never like them on me anymore. And yet I keep buying them.
