Battle of the Bands, if you will

so john and i are packing and preparing for the long voyage to see his family in New Hampshire. there's not a single part of this that i enjoy: the packing, the traveling, the actual visit. but that's married life for you. but what i hate the most is the ongoing war of what cds we listen to in the car. with all due respect to kevin and chad, who i once referred to as music snobs, i'm a bit of a music snob myself. and i admit i married someone with a horrid cd collection. the one thing he has that might be classified as "cool" is his absurdly huge swing music collection. however, there's only so much of that i can take in one sitting. so we always end up fighting because i really don't like melissa etheridge or journey and i don't want all swing. he likes pretty much all the stuff that i own, so in the end, we wind up picking a bunch of my cds and he enjoys himself begrudgingly. every single time.

yeah, i'll give you that one. i would actually refuse marriage with someone who listens to country. that is the one thing i really, truly, truly, truly cannot at all tolerate.
