Aug. 14th, 2008 11:38 amI never got into the Olympics before I met John, but he really likes them so I've taken to them, as well. But I'm finding I definitely prefer the winter Olympics. Even the wacky not-as-popular events that run more are more interesting in the winter games. Bring on the luge and some curling. Yes, I like curling. I even tried to do it once and it's way harder than it looks so I have some major respect for those people.
But since it's summer, I'm trying to watch the things that I do find interesting. Here's the problem. Because of the 12 hour time difference, the most interesting stuff tends to happen, and is aired live, after I've gone to bed. When I tune in at 8 or 9 at night for about an hour, it's just been swimming. Nothing against swimming, and I like watching Michael Phelps rack up the gold medals, but beyond him, I'm not all that interested. I haven't seen any gymnastics events at all yet. I think track and field might not be until this weekend so I'll hold my complaints on that. I have barely seen any diving, which I think is pretty cool, especially the synchronised ones. John's been missing the archery and fencing.
And normally when there is nothing good on NBC, we can switch over to the Canadian channels and see what CBC has, but they've had the exact same things on. Gah! So then I'll try to see what they're replaying during the days on MSNBC, but it's been all stuff I'm not at all interested in like baseball, basketball, tennis, etc. I'm not particularly interested in beach volleyball. And there just seems to be a lot more random stuff I couldn't care less about.
