Aug. 4th, 2008 01:29 pmAfter a long day of spending way too much at Home Depot and discussing my grandmother's decision to go into a hospice facility with the extended family, we went to a barbecue at our friend Angelo's house. Nora was in dog lover's paradise. They have a 14-year-old lab mix, plus two young tiny dogs, a 4 1/2 lb yorkie and a 10 lb mini wiener dog. Nora became particularly good friends with the wiener dog, who was jumping all over her and lavishing her with many doggy kisses.
I've never been one for small dogs. I mean, if you can fit it in your purse, it doesn't seem worth it, but I have to admit that I really liked these dogs. Perhaps since John's allergies prohibit us from having cats, we'll have to get a tiny dog as a cat substitute. Ha ha.
Anyhoo. When we were leaving the party, Angelo asked us if we could follow him to the end of the street where he was going to drop off his boat trailer at the launching point and then give him a ride back to the house. We agreed and when Angelo got in the car next to Nora, she immediately burst into tears. Angelo is a bit of a loud guy and she doesn't seem to like loud men very much, for some reason. I turned around and grabbed her toes and tried to reassure her, and she did stop crying. But what she then did was turn her head away from Angelo and close her eyes tight with this incredibly pissed off look on her face for the duration of the ride back to Ang's house. I wish I could do it justice because it was so unbelievably hilarious. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. The melodrama was just too much, and at only 16 months, for crying out loud. I am in such trouble with her when she gets to be a teenager.
