Lights are on

We finally got power back last night.  I was still at my parents' house and I was screaming enough when John called and told me that Mike came up to try to figure out what was wrong.  I really just wanted to sit back and enjoy the civilization of TV, but my cable isn't up and running yet.  Damn.  I'm most upset that I still haven't been able to watch last Thursday's shows that are trapped on the hard drive of my DVR, which I can't access, either, without cable.  And I'm having Daily Show withdrawal.  This also means I have no internet access at home and that screws up the Vonage phones, but at least that automatically forwards to my cell phone.

But I really can't whine.  No one got hurt.  We had no major damage.  Just a lot of inconvenience and a lot of broken tree limbs to clean up.  

And back in pregnancy news

[Bad username or unknown identity: Now that the lights are back on, I noticed this morning that I have little stretch marks on the bottom of my boobs.  I guess I'm not surprised as I got boob stretch marks when I was on the pill, but it is no less of a bummer.  I don't mind being the C cup I always wanted to be, except I have to get some bras soon as the sports bra isn't a good longterm solution.  The stretch marks are not a great side effect, though. ]

So I enjoy all the listings of things that are closed because the names of day care centers and Catholic schools amuse me.  But my confusion lies with Our Lady of Pompeii church.  Have no clue where that is in Western New York, but how could Mary have appeared to anyone in Pompeii?  The city was destroyed before the birth of Christ.  And no one really lives there now.  When we were there, there was pretty much the ruins and the booths outside the ruins selling you postcards and animals supposedly made out of volcanic ash (I bought a turtle).  So I'm a little mystified by Our Lady of Pompeii.  I'll have to look that one up.
