Hockey Conundrum

The NHL is now down to the final four in the playoffs: Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Detroit, and Dallas.  I'm trying to figure out who to root for.  

Normally, of course, Buffalo is my first choice, but let's not discuss their non-presence in the playoffs.  Then I usually like to go with a Canadian team.  None of those left either.  

Dallas is absolutely out because I don't believe in hockey teams in places where ice does not naturally form.  

I don't like Philly.  Don't ask me why.  I just don't.  Furthermore, Briere totally bailed on Buffalo to go there and I don't really want to see him win.  Yes, I'm bitter.

I like the idea of Detroit, but similarly with my Briere problem, there's the Hasek problem.  I don't really want to see him win, either, but not as severely as I don't want that Philly with Briere win.

So that leaves me with Pittsburgh.  I kind of find the over-the-top praise of Sidney Crosby annoying, but whatever.  I think in the end, this is the team I want to be supporting right now.

Yay! My brother-in-law is a huge Pens fan-- the tables at their wedding reception were all named after Penguins, did I mention that at the time?

Wow, that's a dedicated fan. And the wife went along with that?

Seriously, though, places like Dallas and Carolina should not have hockey teams. The people there don't even appreciate that they have a hockey team.

And I should have mentioned how glad I am the Mighty Ducks aren't in it because not only is there no ice in Anaheim, it's also like a giant commercial for those movies. If there's a team I hate most in the NHL, it's a toss up between Dallas and the stupid fricking Ducks. If I was a player, I wouldn't want to admit I was a Mighty Duck.

Yeah, Maggie got to be a hockey fan hanging out with him-- he also plays; it was a small informal wedding so not aesthetically offensive; and they got a congratulations notice posted up on the scoreboard at the game they went to during the honeymoon.

I am a huge Red Wings fan, so my choice in the above is obvious.
