My time

so i'm putting in over 50 hours on this seven day work week. i'm off sunday, but we're doing christmas with my family that day. and i have a lot of shit to do before i have to go (kicking and screaming) to new hampshire for the holiday. so when asked why i'm not going to the stupid holiday breakfast that our superiors are throwing for us on tuesday, i feel the answer is quite obvious. despite the free food, i just have better things to do with my time not working here than hang out with those people. i haven't had a relaxing moment in an extremely long time. i mean, a truly relaxing moment. so pardon me for not feeling the fake sentiment of this holiday breakfast that is just taking up more of my free time.

well you get to miss all the stupid awards too, like:
most transitional
yup, thats one of the genius awards they came up with.
they kept asking me for suggestions like im a damn thesaurus, then we all got in a huge fight about why "most transitional" was a dumb and offensive award. im going bc its during my paid work day ;o)

see, that's the thing. if they really wanted to do something nice for us, they should have done it on their time rather than ours. let us close down the clubs for teen hours on tuesday and give us dinner then. ya know? then it would be a nice thing for all of us and you'd be more likely to get the part-timers, too, who have daytime jobs.

and i don't need to attend an awards ceremony like a five-year-old soccer banquet where everyone gets an award just to be nice. what the hell does most transitional mean anyway? i don't get it.

What the hell? Transitional? I would take that to mean "Most likely to quit after three weeks on the job, and find some other sucky job to spend three weeks in before quitting". Why not have honest awards like "biggest pain in the ass", "gossips all the time" or "always late with paperwork"? By the way, we just had our work holiday dinner yesterday and I was given the award for "least likely to be sarcastic".

listen i am with you on this one.... what they were trying to say with "most transitional" was that they wanted to give an award to this one younger employee for "maturing" and "growing up" and "coming into their own" or some shit like that. so i suggested a "most improved" but that was not good enough for them... i tried to explain that by saying most transitional you are implying that the employee is unstable, and well, TRANSITIONAL, but apparently they dont know what the word means.... they kept saying, "no, we are saying that he has made a huge 'transition' this year and blah blah blah"... they just were not understanding... so finally i was like, "look, i dont mean to offend, but im an english major and if someone gave me an award for "most transitonal" i would be pretty offended." they ended up switching it to "the future clubhouse director" award, which isnt any better but they dont fucking listen...
