So in one year, Nora grew 10 inches and gained 15 pounds.  Not too shabby.

Nora's actual birthday was a little anticlimactic.  She went to daycare.  We went to our respective daytime obligations.  It seemed odd that her first birthday was not some sort of national holiday that we should all have had off.  She had a birthday blueberry muffin to celebrate at dinner with us.

Nora's quasi-party was today.  My neighbors were half in attendance as one of the girls had dance class.  So everyone stopped by to say hello and then half had to leave quickly.  My folks were also here.  We had pizza and wings and Nora had some of the cake that John and I made, which actually turned out nice.  Go figure.

The other little girl from next door then had to head home for naptime.  My brother called to see what was up and if he should still come by after having overslept.  He did come right over and brought along the cakes from Gillian.  We did some present opening and then Nora had Gillian's cake for snack.  Mike placed the whole thing right on her tray and she seemed at a total loss as to what to do with it.  Apparently we have her too trained to eat bite sized pieces.  We helped her stick her hands in it and broke it up a little for her.  Mike finally got the brilliant idea to sprinkle a few cheerios on top of it and then she dug in a little on her own.  About half of it went untouched so we saved that for her to have at a later date.  She may have been overstuffed today with all she ate.

This one is actually from Easter.

We got Nora this car.  We push it for now and when she gets older, we take the bottom out and she pushes herself with her feet.

The cake we made.

Nora and Gillian's lemon cake.

This one I just need to post so you can see her sparkly purple shoes.

I'm convinced that boy spends more of his life asleep then his does awake. But I will admit, the Cheerios this is/was a good idea. And in other news quiet first birthdays are much better than loud ones. My bad Sister had a full frigging house for her daughters first birthday. Bad idea. 10 Toddlers? It was the Day Care phenomenon... one cries, they all cry.

One Baby per Party plz. Oh, and nice party shoes ; ). What the HECK is the blue thing in her hand in the last one?

That is the famous and indispensable blue gear, of course she is currently carrying around two of them in her hand right now, so perhaps that should be the infamous blue gears. Great cakes by the way. The rasberry one was quite delicious.
