So in one year, Nora grew 10 inches and gained 15 pounds. Not too shabby.
Nora's actual birthday was a little anticlimactic. She went to daycare. We went to our respective daytime obligations. It seemed odd that her first birthday was not some sort of national holiday that we should all have had off. She had a birthday blueberry muffin to celebrate at dinner with us.
Nora's quasi-party was today. My neighbors were half in attendance as one of the girls had dance class. So everyone stopped by to say hello and then half had to leave quickly. My folks were also here. We had pizza and wings and Nora had some of the cake that John and I made, which actually turned out nice. Go figure.
The other little girl from next door then had to head home for naptime. My brother called to see what was up and if he should still come by after having overslept. He did come right over and brought along the cakes from Gillian. We did some present opening and then Nora had Gillian's cake for snack. Mike placed the whole thing right on her tray and she seemed at a total loss as to what to do with it. Apparently we have her too trained to eat bite sized pieces. We helped her stick her hands in it and broke it up a little for her. Mike finally got the brilliant idea to sprinkle a few cheerios on top of it and then she dug in a little on her own. About half of it went untouched so we saved that for her to have at a later date. She may have been overstuffed today with all she ate.
