There are way too many people we have to buy presents for in John's family.  And they will never ever agree to do that Christmas present lottery thing that some large families do where each person picks a name and that's the only person they have to buy a present for.  It will never happen.

So in an effort to save money the past couple of years, I've tried to get crafty with presents.  Here's the problem.  I am just not a crafty person.  I don't enjoy it.  The one crafty thing I've been known to do and like is beading.  So a couple years ago, I made lots of jewelry for the female members of John's family.  Last year I did more beading, but made these big snowflake ornaments, most of which turned out pretty well despite some annoying setbacks.

This year, I don't have time, energy, patience, or new ideas for the beads so I had to seek out new craft ideas online.  My mission was to find something simple, yet nice.  I thought I had it figured out with a cool idea.  I should really know better.

In our rush to finish most of the Christmas presents to take with us at Thanksgiving, I whipped up a batch of the craft in question (details of which I must leave out as some have not received them yet) and they didn't turn out quite as good as I'd hoped.  Knowing myself, I expected this to a certain extent.  But I have to say I was more than just mildly disappointed in how they turned out.  However, time being what it was, I did not have time to redo them.  I threw out those that really didn't work and figured I'd just make more later for those who we'd be doing Christmas with closer to actual Christmas.  Really, I was not pleased that we were giving these things to people.

Anyway.  I had a variation of the craft and tried that out this weekend.  My craft frustration level was already high so when I hit a snag, I made John take over.  I mean, why do I always wind up doing this stuff when it's coming from both of us?  In any case, this batch turned out sooooooooooooo much better (and because of the variation, not because John was doing them, though he did a great job).  As I was looking at them last night, I feel particularly bad for the people who got the crappy ones.

So sorry Julie and everyone who was in Vermont for Thanksgiving.  Beth, be glad you're getting the good batch.

Martha Stewart or Martha Mitchell? Martha Mitchell was way cooler than Martha Stewart, and I think a lot more fun around the holidays.

Don't mind him. He doesn't know what he's in for.

PS: I am a Mini Martha. You name it, I'll tackle it. So if you want help or just a laugh at someone elses expense HOLLA!.

[seriously, I like Hot Glue. I don't know why, the shit could amuse me for HOURS]

PPS: on a Karaoke note, one of the Managers from BW's is a DJ/Bartender and he does Karaoke every Tueday. He's a pretty great guy... so if you're in the mood to sing some night go to Average Joe's!
