I stopped by the daycare today to drop off her paperwork and got chatting with them about her sleeping habits.  Turns out they legally can't let her sleep on her stomach.  Oh.  Now, I appreciate that they are vigilant about that, but I know she won't sleep for them any better than she slept for me on her back and I have a pretty good idea of how frigging cranky she's going to be in the evenings when she gets home to us.  Yay.  Apparently if I can get the doctor to write a note that it's okay, they'll put her down on her stomach, but I doubt the doctor will do that.  They'll be able to do that, though, when she starts rolling.  So start rolling, Nora!

I also hit some garage sales this morning, but I shouldn't have bothered.  At this point, we have just about everything we need and/or want from all our garage saling lately, but I'm still looking for a jumparoo or two (to have a spare at Mom's).  I've only been able to find those ones that hang on a door which I'm not overly fond of.  I get to the last garage sale I was going to and it's huge.  Must have been numerous families or something because they had, like, five of everything.  Oh, except for the one jumparoo that someone already had taken possession of.  Had I gotten there a little earlier, I would have had it.  Darn, darn, darn.  Oh well.  Guess we'll just get a new one when that friggin voucher ever gets here.

But the upshot may be that if she's not napping at Daycare she might be thoroughly exhausted enough to fall asleep in the car on the way home. AND if you get ultra lucky she might stay asleep in the car seat for a bit. Then you can reap the benefits of a nap. : )

No, I did not. Most children who sleep in car seats do not sleep with their heads pressed to the back of the seat, but off to one side.

Flat head babies come from inattentive mommies who leave their children on their backs in playpens or cribs: not car seats.

Which illustrates my point that kids will obtain some bad habits, drive you crazy with them..then suddenly their gone! "Wow", you say to yourself..."I must be doing something right here!"

However just as you reach around to pat yourself on the back, the little insect moves on to a more "new and improved" set of habits designed to seek out the parent and do meticulously searing work on their central nervous system.

Now of course most siblings are different, some are incredible kids that sleep through the night, don't fuss (much) and are "angels". However that too will be traded in as they get older, for the more modified and updated set of habits.

You'll most likely find that leaving the infant at daycare is more of an adjustment for the parent than it is the infant. Once you find the daycare that you feel comfortable with (it's hard, but can be done!) at that age something mysterious occurs. The kid adapts to the environment quite easily, and things can go quite smoothly at daycare. However once back at the homefront, those habits have a strange way of returning!?

As they get older those "trade-in's" will of course continue, but along with the madness of the parenting experience...comes those incredible "first's." That first step, the first words,(daddy of course!) the first diaper changing, (heh, thats a story we'll save for another time!) the first bike riding lesson, the first communion, first driving lesson, and the "first's" can go on right to the first steps away from home.

All of which are incredible highs and loving memories one must hang onto even when they retain their "bad habits" and drive you to the brink........when they turn 20!

They might just get her into a good napping routine on her back.

Another thing I wanted to tell you is about those bottles. You've probably already realized that they are a real pain with a bottle warmer. They get water in the bottom. We send the bottles to daycare in sandwich bags - the ones w/o the zipper and we've got them to put the bottle into the warmer in the bag and just toss the bag after the bottle is ready. Zack and Nora will be the only ones there with the ventaire bottle (Although Zack has the wide nipples).

Are you going to hang out there for a while on Monday? I stayed there for almost 2 hours on Zacks first day, held him, played with him with their toys and did his first feeding there, then I left. I guess a lot of moms do that and they don't mind. It gives you a chance to see all the other babies too.

We'll be dropping Zack off around 8:20 - maybe we'll see you there!
