Nora is getting better at this thumb sucking business, but she still has a wee bit of room to grow. As a result, though, she's completely rejecting the pacifier. While I'm glad that she's weaning herself off the pacifier, saving me trouble later on, I wish she had waited just a smidge longer so that she could be a real pro at finding her thumb right away AND because now I won't ever get to get her the pirate styled Bling. Oh well.
She's rather funny with the thumb, too. You normally think of a baby having the rest of her hand in a fist while sucking on it, but not Nora. She has her hand open with her fingers splayed across her nose, occasionally poking herself in the eye.
In other weird news, I finally decided that she needed new curtains that would not let in so much light. I picked up some lovely Martha Stewarts at KMart and then all of a sudden she stopped waking up at 5:30 in the morning and went straight through until 7:30. Granted it's only been two nights so far and I'm not holding my breath that it will be that way all the time, but she actually slept from 8:30 until 7:30 at 12 weeks and I wanted to dance a jig, if I knew how.
She was really miserable today, though. We could not figure out what the problem was at all. She didn't want to nap, even more so than usual, diaper changes didn't help, she wasn't extra hungry, gripe water and little anti-gas exercises didn't seem to be doing the trick. She just wanted to scream, including while we attempted to eat out for Father's Day. At her bedtime meal, though, she let rip a tremendous torrent of poop that she must have been saving up for us. She and I both wound up wearing it and how lucky for us that we both were dressed in white today. Yay! But she smiled after John changed her like she was very proud of herself, only fussing long enough to need a wee bit of burping before she went to bed.
