Whew!  What a day.  We began with an appointment at Buffalo Ultrasound for Nora's echocardiogram to check out that heart murmur.  There was a local news celebrity in the waiting room with us, which made me ponder what she was there for, and then made me ponder how much it must suck to not be able to just be an anonymous person in a waiting room so I felt bad that I wondered why she was there.  Meanwhile, Nora got squirrelly in the waiting room so we started feeding her until her room was ready.  She paused briefly for the ultrasound and when she started getting bored of keeping still, we let her finish off her bottle while the tech finished the ultrasound.

Then Nora got to nap in the car while we tooled around checking out garage sales.  Now that I was looking for a swing, I wasn't able to find one when last week I must have seen approximately four million.  Go figure.  I did find a spare bouncer for five bucks to keep at Mom's.  Then finally at the absolute last garage sale we were going to go to, we hit the jackpot.  We got an easel and a Sit 'n' Spin and a pop-up book AND a $7 swing that is very similar to the $10 one we bought last week.  Thus, we have a spare to keep at Mom's and we can use that Fisher Price voucher we're getting for our recalled swing to buy other Fisher Price products.  Think of all the Little People I could buy...

So onto home where Mom is waiting to watch Nora so we can give the house a thorough cleansing before Sunday's post-baptism festivities.  John and I did an outstanding amount of cleaning.  Super productive.  Except that at the rate Beezley is shedding, we'll have to do it all over again Sunday morning.  I even brushed him yesterday to the point where the pile of hair I left outside looks like a small animal exploded and he's still shedding like crazy.

Anyhoo.  Due to the extreme warmth outside, we opted to do the grocery shopping today instead of tomorrow and hold off on yard work until tomorrow.  Mom stayed longer with Nora and we went to purchase mass quantities of hot dogs and burgers.  Yay!

On the way home, I wanted to get some Mighty Taco for dinner.  I pull up to the drive thru and don't get anyone talking to me.  John states that he thought it looked awfully dark, but I was looking right at the posted hours and they shouldn't have been closed.  However, some kid sticks his head out the back door to inform us that they're closed due to a power outage.  How could God smite my desire for a three cheese nacho burrito?  So cruel.  We then try Tim Horton's for a chicken club, but the girl informs us that she just sold the last piece of chicken, but they do still have turkey.  Fine.  Whatever.

While waiting at the front window for our sandwiches to arrive, Nora's godmother calls to inform me that due to the weather, she seems to be having a tough time getting the hell out of Alabama in order to make it to the baptism, but she's trying very hard to do so.  As I'm talking to her, a line builds up behind us at the Tim's drive thru and someone actually honks at me, as if I'm just sitting at the window talking on the phone holding them up like an ass.  I was still waiting for my fricking food, for crying out loud.  Geez.

Then we got home and Nora was showing signs of needing her bedtime food.  I scarfed down my sandwich while Mom continued to entertain her and then I finally got her settled into nightime mode.  She was super tired so it was tricky getting her to eat, but she was a champ and then grumped her way to sleep after a fun and exciting diaper change.

And that was today.
