I totally get why people give up on breastfeeding. I'm pretty much right about to myself, I swear. Unless she's really awake or really hungry, Nora always seems to be fighting me at feeding time. She wants it and she has proven that she knows how to latch, but she just gets lazy or something because she'll open her mouth and then not suck. We can spend 20+ minutes and every trick in the book before she finally just up and does it. It takes longer to get her settled in than it does for her to eat and I'm a frustrated mess about it.
And she's getting so that you can't ever put her down during the day without her crying after two minutes. I really just can't hold her the entire day. I gotta find the time to watch the instructional DVD that came with our baby wrap. And I'm still mystified as to who bought the Snugli off our registry, but still hasn't given it to us. We could really use it! In any case, we've officially decided that buying a swing will be very worth it. I'm concerned about how things will go when John goes back to work.
Oh, and soy milk didn't seem to be a good option either. That leaves us with trying rice milk. All I want it for is my cereal so I guess it doesn't have to taste great, but that would be nice.
We are getting on somewhat of an eating schedule, though, and working on her night vs. day recognition. Sleep at night is decent between feedings and that I'll take.

Date: 2007-04-05 11:33 pm (UTC)From:As for the not wanting to be put down thing... UGH. UGH. Does she get just as upset if she is put in her carseat? Both Jacob and Grace had indigestion and couldn't tolerate laying flat, but were fine if they were semi-reclined. They both slept in their carseats at night for the first couple months.
I think that you should schedule another appointment with the lacation consultation.. or even try talking over the phone. Breastfeeding is the HARDEST in the beginning, I promise. If you can get through the beginning, it will get better. And, if it doesn't that's okay too. You guys will figure out what is right for you.

Still getting on the learning curve with each other, I guess...

Date: 2007-04-06 05:40 pm (UTC)From:I have sad news on the King Cake front - although the GOOD news is that it will arrive at your door on Wednesday. The sad news is that cream cheese filled cakes don't get shipped at this time of year due to spoilage factors so I had to go with the traditional one. We'll wash it down with rice milk. Or tequila - how do you think Nora would like that?
