I'm going to say what all new mothers say. It is not gas. My baby is actually smiling, I swear.
Think of it this way. Sometimes you consciously smile, but at other times your smile just sort of happens in response to something pleasant. So why couldn't Nora be responding to something pleasant like that? I mean, when I'm rubbing her hair, I think that's a genuine smile she's giving me.
Also, she sometimes has this crooked side smile that totally looks like Harrison Ford.
