I'm unbelievably exhausted.
My crotch hurts to sit on it, but standing isn't a good plan and who has time to lie down? Looking forward to that part where they say it goes from sore to numb. I'll take numb. Also keep forgetting to fill up my little water squirt bottle I'm supposed to use to cleanse myself every time I go to the bathroom before I sit down on the toilet.
Didn't miss having a period, that's for sure, and this bleeding blows. Not to gross anyone out or anything, but right after delivery, I got up and just bled all over the place. John had to page a nurse for me to get me more of the uber-attractive mesh undies they give you to wear in the hospital. I think I sat on the toilet for something like 15 minutes before someone showed up. It's nowhere near that bad anymore, but it still sucks that I'm going to be stuck with this for weeks.
I am sore in places I would not imagine I'd be sore in. Pretty much my entire body, really. My arms and upper back are getting adjusted to carrying a baby. My neck is also super stiff because I tend to bend over and stare at her a lot while she's nursing. I try to catch myself and straighten up, but I can't help it.
I think I blew a capillary in my eye from pushing. It's getting less red now.
That stupid PUPP rash, by the way, doesn't go away immediately and had actually gotten a tad worse, but the hydrocortizone does seem to help now.
Boobs are still a little sore, but lanolin is the best invention ever. The lactation consultant was quite pleased with our latching, as am I because it appears that I have missed out on that whole unpleasant engorgement business when your milk first comes in. But she is still easily distracted when I first get her to latch and we had a really, really rough night last night, making me wonder what I ate for dinner that pissed her off so much so I don't ever eat it again. Looking forward to pumping a little bit so John can participate in this activity.
John's job, by the way, is the official diaper changer. She has peed on him repeatedly. And she keeps getting it on her onesie which now justifies my need to buy so many.
The in-laws are on their way here. They're only staying until Sunday. I have an emotional meltdown at least once a day as it is over stupid stuff thanks to hormones and exhaustion so we'll see how this goes.
One positive side note. After a couple days there where my leg and foot swelling actually got worse, it appears to be going down. And not just there. Everything about me now seems smaller and I didn't realize those places had swelled, too. I peed about 4,000 times the other night and woke up a smaller person. It was weird, but a good thing.
And of course Nora is the overall upside. Depsite my exhaustion, I know she's a very good baby. Sure there are moments of frustration with her, but who cares, really? She's all mine.

Date: 2007-03-29 11:13 pm (UTC)From:Oh, and thanks for the reminders why I don't want to do it all again. :)
Good news...the flow will get better. It's not like that for weeks and weeks. At least it SHOULDN'T be.
I never had stitches or tears, but I am wincing just thinking about yours. And I remember that I felt like I couldn't really go for a walk for at least 2 weeks after having Jacob. And, apparently some women head out to the mall three days after coming home from the hospital.
Oh, tell John that the first time that John-Paul (he was official diaper changer and giver of baths) changed Jacob's diaper after coming home from the hospital, he peed ALL over. All over John, all over my sister, all over the PLACE! I was hormonal and got pissed at poor John. As if he had any way of stopping it...
Good luck with the in-laws. Just remember that anything you say or do can be blamed on hormones and exhaustion.

Date: 2007-03-30 11:22 pm (UTC)From:I'm just sick of hitting this one spot when I pee that makes it sting a bit. And sitting for long stretches just tends to make it worse.
I got peed on last night for the first time. She's doing it several times a day now! At least she's not a boy.
