I think I have something called PUPP. You'll have to look it up yourself if you really want to know what the letters stand for, but essentially it's scientific jargon for a completely harmless yet unbelievably annoying pregnancy related rash. I have it on the back of my hands and you really can't even see it if you're not looking for it, but it is the itchiest motherf-ing thing in the world that no amount of hydrocortisone can totally resolve. I'm wondering if my itchy belly is related to this as well, although I don't think there's a rash there, but just itchy stretch marks. Hard to tell when I can't see past my belly button. I gotta try to remember to mention it at my appointment on Wednesday, but I tend to forget about it during the day when it's not itching quite as much.
There's another pregnancy related rash that's equally as harmless and annoying that it could potentially be, and it also has some crazy scientific name that I can't remember, but the PUPP is more common. There is another pregnancy rash that could be a sign of liver problems, but that involves a rash on the palms of your hands and/or soles of your feet and I don't have that. Can you tell I was checking this all out online?
Here's a couple of interesting facts about PUPP. It generally only occurs during a first pregnancy, towards the end of the pregnancy. And most fascinating, 70% of PUPP cases happen to women who are pregnant with a boy.
In any case, add this to my repertoire of aggravating symptoms that are supposed to resolve after I give birth.
