I made a comment to John the other night about how I'm really glad I'm not an elephant since their gestational period is almost two years.

But it got me thinking.  Do animals in the wild get the kind of symptoms that humans get during pregnancy?  Do they get swollen feet?  Do they get morning sickness?  Do they get heartburn?  Do they get other weird things people don't and we should be glad we don't?  And can you imagine an elephant with nasal congestion?

Speaking of nasal congestion, it's been hard to tell where the cold ended and the usual pregnancy congestion took back over.  Poor John has been spending a lot of time sleeping in the baby's room since my snoring bothers even him lately.  And I keep waking myself up.  I suspect I've got a little apnea going on here.

We saw the new part-time midwife the last time we were there who is normally a little too organic for my tastes, but she had recommended that I use a nasal cleansing pot.  I already have one for the occasional sinus issue (great for avoiding antibiotics, I swear), but it had never occured to me to use it for this and I kept forgetting about it until the middle of the night when I'd be waking myself up and John would decide to vacate the premises.

Finally remembered it and have been using it right before I go to bed the past couple of nights and I think it's potentially making a difference.  Not perfect, mind you, but allowing both of us to actually get some sleep for a change.  This will be especially helpful as we will have someone in the other room after the shower Saturday night so John will have nowhere to go other than the couch, and that's not fun.
