#1: Borat got nominated for the Oscar for best adapted screenplay. Seriously? Borat got an Oscar nomination?
#2: Okay. Let's bring back Dakota Fanning. Apparently she has some movie playing at Sundance that involves a scene where she is raped. There are people, particularly these sort of "morality" organizations and whatnot, that are just in an upheaval about this and are considering it child abuse. Give me a fricking break. Her mom was present for the taping. She was in a full body suit. She's a pretty smart cookie from what I've seen in interviews so I think she was mature enough to know what was going on. And all the people bitching, by the way, have, of course, not seen the movie anyway. They're arguing that it couldn't possibly be considered artistic or some such crap. I'm assuming it's rather vital to the storyline.
I think the real problem is that because of what I mentioned some weeks ago, that she perpetually appears to be 8, that people have this golden image of this girl and can't bear to have it tainted. Get over it. She's 12 and thankfully will not be playing precocious children's roles for too much longer. I'm looking forward to the day that she really does something nasty.
