sal_amanda | You've created two MySpace monsters

People have been bugging me for years to get a MySpace page and Julie threatened to make one for me, so I finally got around to making one this week. Figured I'd just do a simple signup and leave it to later to mess around with, but as I started looking at the pages of people I know, I was jealous and wanted to make a cool page. Seemed a little complex at first, but John got on board and we looked all over the internet for ways to mess with our backgrounds, layouts, etc.

John has been really super into it and spending waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on it. Not saying I haven't, but I have time to kill. John still has an incomplete from last spring that needs to be finished by next week. He figured since he was on a couple of sick days, it was okay to do something useless and wasteful. This means he's got a lot of work to do this weekend.

But I've definitely been spending too much time playing around, too. I was randomly contacted already by someone from high school that I haven't had any interaction with since about 9th grade when we went out for, like, a week. It actually took me a second to figure out who he was because the only picture he had posted at the time didn't look like he used to. I checked out people listed from high school and college, but it's clear that most people are like me and not really putting their full names on their pages so they can't be found easily. I've basically had to e-mail my link to those I know have pages so we can add each other that way.

In any case, I'm generally pleased with my page, but now have no idea what to do with it now that it's just about done. I guess that's about all there is to MySpace. I think I expected more.

The one thorn in my side with this page is that my picture slideshow is taking forever to load. I uploaded the pictures almost two full days ago and the slideshow still isn't coming up. I'm thinking I may have too many on there and it's making it back up something fierce. I suppose I can take a few off and see if that helps. I don't really need to have all 28 pictures. John is having the same problem with his 35, too.

We are officially addicted.
