I have the nasty glucose tolerance test scheduled for Tuesday morning. For three days before, I actually have to have a couple extra carbs over what I would normally eat. Then I fast after 10:00 p.m. on Monday and then I'm in for a thrilling three hours in the morning. Wahoo. I don't like the group of labs I'm stuck going to and I know no one is going to want to listen to me when I tell them that the veins in my arm don't give blood because people really don't like going with the vein in your hand. And they have to take blood three times? Great.
I'm attempting to sign up for classes. Children's Hospital has an all day Saturday childbirth education class that also includes a tour so we'd be killing two birds with one stone, but getting hold of anyone there is nearly impossible. I looked up the class dates online and they only have one a month. I'm trying to squeeze into the January one since the February one is the date of the shower and I'm concerned about the March one being too late just in case. So I've called and left a message and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We could go to the closer affiliated hospital as they have more than one Saturday class a month, but I'd rather do it at Children's since that's where we're delivering and if I do it somewhere else, I still have to set up a tour anyway. They have ones that are over the course of four weeks, but Children's only offers them on Wednesday nights and that would interfere with our midwife appointments.
The other place I'm looking at is the Care Connection. They sell breast pumps and do lactation consultation and all that good stuff and several people have told me it's a resource I absolutely must have. So I checked out their website and they have a bunch of classes we were considering, as well, including infant CPR and breastfeeding. I just signed us up for classes up the wazoo. And if the Saturday childbirth class at Children's doesn't work out, I'm probably going to try to talk John into taking the Care Connection's four week class in February. They were so extremely helpful when I called and they've had people come to their class after taking the one at Children's anyway because they didn't feel like they got enough info so we'll see.
I have a list of things to accomplish before the baby is born and I'm working on getting it all done and over with quickly. And yes, Julie, I will put making a MySpace page on that list. I'll get to it in the next couple of months.
