Me and my swollen feet made it through the 8 hour car ride to John's aunt's house in Northfield, VT.  I got a little antsy at the end once we hit the more rural routes.  John was driving by then so I had to wiggle around and shift my weight from butt cheek to butt cheek to keep away the sciatic nerve issues peeking out.  We stopped fairly frequently, of course, which added the extra half hour to the drive time (as John made sure to tell me several times that he can make the trip by himself in 7 1/2 hours).

But we made it and in time for dinner.

I was joking before we left about how me, John, and the body pillow that has become my sleeping companion were all going to fit into a full bed when we're just fitting into our queen, but that actually became a genuine issue.  We really actually didn't fit and John wound up spending time downstairs on the couch every night we were there after he'd wake up at, like, 2 or 4 or something like that.  We also missed our humidifier as my pregnancy congestion was at an alltime high as were John's allergies to the cat, thus making us both the king and queen or snoring.  We kept waking each other up every night.  The first night was also interesting since John's grandma was worried I'd be cold and cranked up the heat.  We were roasting, but that was taken care of the rest of the visit.  The bed was actually super comfy, though, and we made due.  But everyone always has issues when they visit at someone else's house because it's just not their own home.  That's life.  No big whoop.

One humorous moment.  John's dad sees pregnant women all day and when he saw me, he said something to the effect of, "Oh, you sure do look pregnant."  Had to laugh at that one.

Did some present opening, watched some movies on DVD, burned some of John's cousin's music off of his iTunes, wandered around Montpelier and the Norwich campus, repeatedly defended my decision to see a midwife, and generally just tried to keep ourselves occupied.  The last night there was a big hockey game at Norwich and I really wanted to go.  John didn't so I had decided not to go, but it was quite clear that I was miserable with the decision and no one likes a cranky pregnant woman.  Thus, we did end up going, and John's dad came, too, and John had to admit that it was actually really fun and it was a great game.  John always seems to think he doesn't like watching hockey until he does and then always loves it.  I knew this would be no exception.

And then we made it through another 8 hour drive home, got our pooch from Mom's, unpacked, and collapsed into bed to watch Carson Daly and the NY ball drop.  Wahoo!
