I had called the Children's Place last week to check on the status of my application. The girl very pleasantly said that yes, they were going to be hiring 2-3 more people based on experience and availability. Since my availability is wide freaking open, I guess it was the fact that I haven't done retail in about six years that warranted the lack of contact from them. I'm not surprised as I felt she was politely brushing me off when I talked to her.
I was going to go run out and apply to Gymboree then, but John really wants to be able to go up to see his family during the time he has off for the holidays as we may not find another chance in the next couple of months the way his schedule works. Thus, working seasonal retail would be prohibitive of me getting holiday time off. So it appears that I'm not going the retail route at this time. Oh, did I mention how bored I am lately?
In any case, I've been keeping an eye open for any potential part-time gigs that would be good to have while I'm doing the whole school thing. Ideally, I'd like something at a college, but then if I could get that before I have the degree, I wouldn't need the degree. And I would absolutely be open to a decent part-time social work position that's not all nights. Like that exists. Even if I did find something good, they'd have to get past the upcoming maternity leave I'd obviously be taking. But after all that, if something were to come through, I'd be all for it.
