So now that there are no more comparisons of the baby's size to some sort of food, we've had to come up with ideas of what to call the baby other than "the baby." Julie has taken up calling it the Squishy, so sometimes that's what we call it. Other times I refer to it as the little critter. But to go along with our geek roots, we have a couple other things that we use from time to time.
Since we were uber-geeks and had Princess Leia and Han Solo figures as our cake topper, it's no surprise that we're going with Star Wars references. The joke with John's cousins was that had they known what we were doing with the cake topper, they would have smuggled in a Chewbacca and replaced Han with it. Thus, we started referring to the baby as the little wookie. And then there's the Darth Tater, which I still think I'm going to order for Christmas. I mean, Mr. Potato Head with a Darth Vader costume couldn't be any more perfect a toy for us to give our child, even if we do have to hang onto it until the baby is 3+ years old.
In any case, we appear to be at about the halfway mark.
