So the mission for today was to visit various places where we could potentially buy a crib, but we had a limited amount of time as Mom had a hair appointment that she desparately needed to keep.
So we started off at USA Baby. Way too expensive, nothing I was dying for. But we wandered around the rest of the store and were very amused in the potty training section. They had something called the Peter Potty which is a training urinal. I kid you not. Loved it. If I have a boy, I totally want one. The other thing they had was a singing bear wearing a diaper that sings a song about being a super duper pooper. Again, I kid you not. Did not love it, but knowing my mother, she'll eventually buy it for us anyway. She loves things like that. She also knows I loathe them, but that's never stopped her before from buying such things as a sax playing Santa Claus.
Next we went to Burlington Coat Factory to check out their Baby Depot section. I really expected to not find anything good there. Suprise, surprise, we did. They had a Simplicity convertible crib with a single drop side that came with a changing table that you could attach or not, and at a good price. We inquired as to what they had in stock. They had three.
Next onto Target, which I already knew had nothing, and then Babies R Us, which I've thoroughly checked out already and wasn't in love with anything cheap enough.
Then a quick run to Wal-Mart to see if they had any of the nice ones I saw online in the store. Nope. We almost bought some bibs, but the line was too long and we were running out of time.
So we ran back to Baby Depot. Really hadn't expected to buy anything today, but places like that don't always have the same stuff in stock so we agreed that we should probably snatch it up. I love the convertible cribs and Simplicity comes with a lot of the transitional parts that others make you pay extra for. I love the drop side because, well, I'm short and it was easy to manage. And the cool thing about the changing table is that you can attach it if you want, but once the kid starts climbing, you can detach it. And then you can also use it as a nightstand because it doesn't just look like a changing table which you can't use for anything else when you're done with it. And it has a trundle drawer underneath for storage. This really was the best selection all around. Plus I had just gotten a coupon in the mail from them. So now it's in my car waiting for John to bring it in. We have to check to make sure all the parts are there, but we can't put it together until after John gets the room painted, probably after the semester is over.
