I tried very hard while the power was out to keep all the animals warm. The dog was easy. He was warmer than us, most of the time.
The turtle wasn't so bad, either. he's fairly close to the fireplace so he got general warmth all day and a little hibernation won't hurt him at all anyway.
The beta is on the mantle above the fireplace so he also had no problems with warmth.
The hermit crabs were a little trickier. They're close to a window and not as close to the fireplace as the other pets. So in my efforts to keep them warm, I wrapped their aquarium in a bath towel and made sure to keep them moist. It seemed to do the trick and they were getting a little feisty in there. Zoidberg II was out the past couple of days since the power came back on, climbing up his favorite toys and hanging out in the water dish. He was even crawling around this morning before I left for work.
However, I just noticed that he's in the corner not in his shell. Interestingly, the only other crab who ever did this to me was Zoidberg I. I have tried to spritz him with water and there are no signs of life at all. None. Nada. I guess maybe this storm was too stressful for him.
