remember the cantina scene? Han is meeting with Greedo, the bounty hunter. in the original version, Han shot Greedo. in the rereleased version, Greedo shot first before Han shot him. perhaps to make him look like it was self-defense? i don't know.

i actually wasn't sure about that one either. i sorta figured it out from various references to it. i don't pay that much attention to all the little details. i'm a geek, but i'm not that geeky.

You gotta be shitting me. As if I was not disgusted enough with the way Lucas has to keep revamping, you have to tell me this? Han is not a nice guy and we like him that way. He's a damn space pirate - stop ruining his image, George! I think we have all the originals on VHS. If I find a revamped version on DVD under the TV I'm going to set it on fire.

well, we have the DVDs, but we haven't really watched them much.

mike's friend Karl works at Blockbuster so they've already watched the DVD of the new one. supposedly, there's some good deleted scenes. but then again, he's young enough that he actually liked Episode I.

My brother told me that in the special edition DVD's, Lucas changed it back so Han does shoot first. Apparently because there was such a big hoopla about it. I guess when he was digitally remastering the originals he also thought it would be a good idea to change some things around. I think he learned his lesson.

i'll have to check that one out. however, he didn't entirely learn his lesson. on the DVD of Return of the Jedi, at the end where Luke sees all the ghosts of Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Annakin, they changed Annakin from the old man you just saw a few minutes ago, to the young Annakin in the newer movies. that's more irritating to me than the Han/Greedo thing that i never really noticed anyway.

incidentally, and totally unrelated to this particular journal entry, why'd you delete your comment from the flying spaghetti monster? i went to reply to it and it wasn't there. ;)

*laugh* after I read it out loud, i realized my comment probably sounded judgemental when I kinda meant it jokingly. Sometimes meaning can get lost in translation in print. :)
Which is also kinda why I haven't posted anything on LJ this week - I'm still trying to figure out how i feel about something that recently happened.
I probably shouldn't take this so seriously.
