1) i will be getting paid.

2) i will not be watching soap operas everyday - and don't just tell me to stop watching them because it's just not that simple. and yet i can't stop yelling at the tv everytime some character does something stupid (constantly) or when some stupid news story that i really don't want to know about at that particular moment busts in during the last five minutes of the damn show (much more frequently than i would like).

3) i like the people i will be working with.

4) i learned more in my 3 1/2 hour training last night than i did in 2 1/2 years of grad school. granted, without grad school, the training last night would not have made a whole lot of sense, but that was all theory. this is practical knowledge.

5) i will have a very good and valid excuse to not answer the phone when certain family members call me to complain about certain other family members.

now, i just have to get through that initial new job nervousness. i hate that part.

I have found that if you DON'T spend one of the first nights after the job starts looking up at the ceiling in the dark thinking "I may have made a HUGE mistake", you really should be worried.

See, this is why you need to learn to knit. That way, when you are home watching soap operas and yelling at the characters, you can feel GOOD about it, since you are also being productive. Guess that won't help you now, what with the new job, and all. BTW, just to clarify (in case there was confusion) I DON't actually sit around eating bon-bons, knitting and watching soap operas all day... I update my livejournal while my baby cries in her high chair (heehee).

I think that my husband had a similar feeling when he was a first on the road as a trooper...
