well.

as predicted, boring weekend for me.

friday had a committee meeting for the YWCA of the Tonawandas, whose board i'm on. came home and watched Kill Bill Vol. 2. john couldn't resist coming to watch part of it. bad john.

so i had to come up with movies he would have no desire to watch for future rental purposes. thought about that while i went to see The Aristocrats and then scoured the used cd section at Record Theatre. came up with a brilliant idea. the man hates horror movies and i have been wanting to watch all those Japanese ones that the american ones are all based on lately. after deciding this, one of the guys at Record Theatre mentioned to his co-worker that he and his girlfriend just picked up the four DVD Ringu box set. so i inquired about them and decided that was absolutely my choice.

so i go to Blockbuster. they had Ringu about a month ago, but now they only have the next three. the clerk's theory was that someone decided to buy it while they had it out. um, all the copies? and you don't restock? not to be thwarted, i head to Hollywood Video. i search and start to panic when i can't find it. however, the clerk finds me the one copy they have of it on VHS. whatever. we had a buck credit, too, so the whole thing only cost me a dollar. have to pass Blockbuster on the way back so i decide to go back in and get Ringu 2. watch both saturday night. good stuff. the second is so good that it really makes the second american one that much worse.

sunday i decide to go see the Exorcism of Emily Rose. if you don't like scary movies, don't go see it. if you don't like court dramas, don't go see it. if you're a middle school aged girl, don't go see it, and you can ask the five middle school aged girls that were sitting down the row from me who kept getting shushed and finally, blessedly, left about 2/3 through. i really liked it, but that's just me.

picked up Rasen, another in the Ringu series. this is where i'm confused. it is also a direct sequel to Ringu and has the same characters, but is a completely different story from Ringu 2. also, not nearly as good as Ringu 2 and horribly much weirder. i'm really mystified by that.

was hoping to have the time to watch Ringu 0 (like, a prequel) today as well, but between fighting with my mom and cleaning the turtle tank, i wouldn't have had time before the Simpsons season premiere and all the other various reality trash i watch on VH1. i think i'll watch it tomorrow, though, because i'll still be trying to stay out of john's way until 4:00, when everything is due.

I'm sick of my own reality, I don't need that of others...
