so i come home to find a delinquency notice from M&T, who handles my mortgage. they say they never got my october payment. i'm pretty anal retentive about bills, but just in case, i check my payment booklet. october's is gone. in fact so is november's since, ironically, i just paid that today. so i look at my check book. i made the october payment on september 19th. my bank statement got here a few days ago so i look at that. check #1341 has not yet cleared. of course, i get home after any live people are available so i check with both my bank's and M&T's automated lines. nada. i mailed that damn mortgage payment the same day as the electric bill and that got there all right. so where the fuck is my mortgage payment? does this mean i have to resend it, pay the late charges, and also cancel the last check, thus creating a check cancellation fee? what the hell? why do i pay my fucking bills on time if it's just going to get lost anyway? i don't even know who to get pissed with. the postal system? M&T? i'm extremely upset about this whole thing and it kills me that i now have to wait until monday to get a real person on the phone. bastards.
i once had a bad experience with electronic payments when my undergrad loans "got stuck" on their way to geneseo. that's why i don't have my bills paid automatically. i think i may change my mind. at least then i can prove it's not my fault that the fucking payment got lost somewhere in limbo.
