so, uh, had an interview this morning at Canisius College for a counselor position with their HEOP program (in a nutshell, for kids who wouldn't normally make it in college without a little extra help).
great job. great staff. at the risk of predicting wrong again, i think the interview went well.
so there's gotta be a fatal flaw, right? of course there is!
before these kids enter college, they go through a rigorous 6 week program over the summer to prepare them for what they are going to encounter. this counselor position is required to be there, in residence, the entire 6 weeks. and i do mean entire. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. i'd get to take, like, an evening off once a week, maybe a sunday afternoon here and there.
now if i was single, didn't have a house or a dog or anything like that, i'd totally take this job because it's a cool job that i think i would really, really like. but that's 6 weeks where i have to literally eat, sleep, and breathe this job every second of the day.
i've thought about how it could be done, but since we're thinking kids in the next couple of years, i just can't see how it would work.
crappity crap crap crap.
