so i called my brother this morning to leave him a message as to what time john would be picking him up to bring him here for homemade spaghetti sauce (grandma style) that i was making specifically for him, and he answered the phone. now he should have been at summer school so i started reaming him out for being home. however, he told me he wasn't feeling well, but he'd try to go to his second class.

i got a call from him an hour or two later telling me that he had been throwing up since i last spoke to him. we chatted briefly by phone and by IM, discussing what he'd eaten, other symptoms, and whether or not we might make it to alfred for his orientation tomorrow.

called my mom on her cell phone and she implied that he might be faking it. i really didn't think so, but since i only talked to him and didn't see for myself, i figured it wouldn't hurt to go over there anyway. i tried to IM him, but he was left idle and since he was still online, the phone was busy.

so i piled the dog into the car and went on over there. mike was passed out on the couch, covered in a blanket. he's definitely got a flu because he's achy and has chills, but at least he stopped throwing up after he finally listened to me and took some pepto bismol. mom and i determined that he didn't have meningitis, which made mike decide that perhaps he should have that meningitis vaccination.

anyhoo. i found where he had thrown up in the kitchen sink and cleaned it up. there wasn't much so it wasn't all too bad. but then his friend rob called and i heard telling him that he threw up in the bathroom sink, too. so i went to check out the damage.

it was unbelievably repugnant. and for the record, i have MAJOR issues with bodily fluids. i'll save you the trouble of description because it was gross, but i had to call mom again to find out where the plunger was for the sink. and i actually had to reach my hand in to pull up the drain. nasty. but i cleaned it for him. and then left the toilet seat up and directed him to please, for the love of god, please use the toilet to throw up in if at all possible from now on.

so i came back home. i'm still making him sauce because it takes all day to make and it's hard to find the time to do it, but i'll be saving it for him. been calling him every hour. we decided to reschedule his orientation date at this point so i called alfred and left a message to switch the date to next week wednesday's session. and i'm staying over there tonight. if he's still sick tomorrow, i guess we'll head to the doctor.

honestly, i worked at an amusement park for a summer and never had to clean up any puke. i've worked with kids in all sorts of different venues and never had to clean up any puke. hell, i never even had to clean up after anyone in college. blood i can handle, but puke is beyond me. i don't know what i'll do when i have my own children.
