so i went for an interview at the Charter School for Applied Technologies this morning. they are hiring a school social worker for grades K-6 and a behavior intervention specialist for grades 7-10. they made it clear without saying so that they would definitely consider me for the latter position, which is great. but they are doing interviews this week and next week and THEN doing 2nd interviews. so it will be at least three weeks before i know anything for sure.

when talking to the CATS lady regarding the reference snafu, she let me know she's ready to talk offers as soon as she reviews the letter. now this is similar to the BVS problem except it's trickier. for one, i really respect this agency and should the school job not work out, i would totally want this one. two, i know a couple people at the agency personally, including the CEO, and would feel pretty bad bailing as was previously thought of. three, it would be even worse to bail because the program is a national, evidence-based clinical practice which has national trainings. the first training is in indiana in the middle of june. they would have to buy plane tickets, hotel, etc. all things that have to be paid up front. sooooooo. not only would i screw over people i know and respect, i would screw them over financially.

so. say yes and screw them if the school thing works out? say no and screw myself if the school thing doesn't work out?

I feel like we already had this conversation an interview or two ago, so I have nothing new to say. I took this job right away, rather than being flown out to Reno to interview at a school there. That's not what I would recommend to anyone because they should check out all their options, but I don't have "what would Reno be like" popping up in my head all the time. Maybe you would be pleasantly suprized at the CATS position and the school one could suck. The fact that you know some people at one place AND respect it is positive. That could mean you have a better idea what it's really like, as opposed to some other place that's just trying to look good to suck you in. Then they turn out to be devils. Didn't your current job seem like a good idea at the time?

ask for time to make your decision, say you have to talk things over with your family...
