I had to do stuff with new student registration all afternoon, but I had my cell in my pocket on vibrate.  John and I decided to unrestrict where we were willing to travel to geographically so I had called to let them know that.  When I got a call, I was assuming it was Sue calling me back about the message I had left.  But then I called her back in between sessions and she said something about a case involving a five-month-old, but I had no idea what she was talking about.

Sometimes if a case fits all your yes's and the person is right in the office, they'll just pull a few profiles out for the birth family to look at and just let them know that there's the potential that the family might not agree to it since they weren't notified ahead of time.  This was one of those times.

But we didn't get picked for that one either.  After hearing some of the circumstances of the case, I'm kind of not surprised, though.  And truthfully, I know we said we'd potentially take an older baby, but I kinda do want to have a newborn again.  Sort of. 

At least I didn't have to stress myself out about that one.

But that's four of our profiles gone and they only keep five at a time so we need to get some more printed up.

really? You have to make your own copies? Seems like something they could just do and then charge you for. Oh well.

Or something they'd have on electronic file instead to just print up whenever necessary?

This process seems even more stressful than hanging around waiting for your own birth child to be born. At least in the latter case you have only a few weeks when you KNOW it HAS to happen, and you at least have an excuse to take everything else off your schedule and lay around relaxing!

I strongly suspect we won't hear anything about Nebraska. I strongly suspect she's opted out of the adoption process by disappearing. It happens from time to time.

I completely understand why we need to make our own copies. They are very expensive, very professional grade color copies that we need to do at a place like Kinko's. They would have to keep and maintain a pretty serious piece of copying equipment to do that and I doubt even charging us for the copies would really be cost effective for them. Also, they'd probably have to have a staff person to just make copies with how often they would probably need to be done for all their clients. Plus, I have more control over what's in them. We went through and tweaked a few things last night before doing the new copies so that was nice.

They do keep a pdf copy of it on file. Sometimes an out of state placement will request that if they're in a hurry and don't want to wait even overnight. But most people still want the hard copies to look over.

And the stress is so frigging unbelievable!

Oh, actually, see above for that comment. I forgot how the threads work on here for some reason. Must be too tired, but what else is new. ;)
