So apparently it is possible for us to have a placement immediately. We actually got a call from Adoption STAR this morning for a profiling opportunity. But he was already born and in Ohio so we declined to be profiled. You may think we're crazy, as does my mother, but we are very solid on not being able to take placement until after the 23rd. And actually, if the worker that was on call this weekend had seen that note in our file, she wouldn't even have called anyway. It is tough to say no, but this is really non-negotiable for us. Graduation is absolutely the one thing John can't miss at work unless it's just completely beyond his power to control. This is within his power to control so we had to say no.
One side note about this child, though. While they were waiting for genetic testing confirmation, they were pretty sure he has dwarfism, which would certainly have made for interesting future family photos with John and probably Nora eventually, too.
