For the hotel portion of our vacation, Nora had her own bed. We had brought her napmat from her floor sleeping area with us and put it on the bed and she thought it was great that she had her own bed. At my grandmother's there was only one spare bed, which she seemed to initially think was hers and then appeared a little disappointed that it was actually ours.
So when we got home, I got thinking. And I decided to try putting her napmat in her bed at home and see how that would go over. So far, so good and she's been sleeping in her bed. I don't believe this would have worked if I'd just done that without there being this trip involved.
Also, I seem to have left my apprehensive child back in Florida and brought back one who is a little more bold. She started boldly walking up to kids at the airports, which normally she wouldn't be brave enough to do, and she's into exploring quite a bit more now.
And she's more huggy, too, all of a sudden. She's not a real cuddler unless she's tired or injured, but she's been interested in just curling up into my lap or having me pick her up for no apparent reason.
I'm not sure how this trip accomplished all this, but I'll go with it.
