Nora turned 2 yesterday, but it turned out to be a less than spectacular day for her.  I guess she was out of sorts at daycare, but she didn't have a temperature when they checked.  But she was still very clearly out of sorts and not feeling well when she got home.  We're used to a little cranky right after daycare, but she was definitely very emotional and touchy.  Everything was bothering her and her appetite was so-so, even though I made her favorite dinner (mac and cheese, with some grapefruit on the side) and she didn't even want any ice cream.  Now that is unheard of.  Seriously, she normally gobbles it up and then is practically licking the bowl when she's done.  She didn't want to have anything to do with any of the phone calls she got and she only sort of got into opening presents.  Turns out she did have a fever at bedtime so she got some Tylenol for her troubles.

I admit I was more disappointed than she likely was.  This was the birthday where she sort of finally got that something exciting was going on.  I got this gigantic Abby Cadabby balloon and had it waiting for her when she walked in.  She had some really fun presents.  But she just wasn't having any of it.  She was into the opening of presents, but she really wasn't interested in any of the contents.  Oh, except for the last minute play-doh set I picked up yesterday morning on a whim.  That she did love right off the bat.

One amusing highlight was her crown, however.  They made the cutest crown for her at daycare with her name on it and a big butterfly.  She had it on when John picked her up and she kept it on until I took it off at bedtime, and she looked like she was considering protesting its removal even then.

In any case, she was feeling better this morning and John stayed home with her.  She was so much more enamored with all her new stuff and was digging right in.  She spent a lot of time with the Darth Tater, which she was rather fearful of last night, so that made me happy.  She liked her new books and her Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear.  And when I left, Nora and Daddy were having a ball with all the finger puppets from Aunt Julie.

Since I don't have class tonight (spring break), I probably would have made today the birthday's events had I known how they'd turn out yesterday, but oh well.  We have more birthday on Saturday when we're doing pizza and cake with the neighbors, and that's when we're giving her the roller coaster thingy.  Hopefully that will be fun.
