I'm currently on hold with Sallie Mae, which currently holds my student loan. They bought it from some other company. At the time that the loan switched over, I had all sorts of issues and was cursing out both companies, but it's been fine since then.
Now since I've been back to school, I've been in deferment. I didn't request the deferment. They just automatically got my information, which is creepy, and put me in it. I continued to make my monthly payments, however. I have only one class left this semester, leaving me at less than half time and no longer eligible for deferment. So I got my first bill from Sallie Mae, only there are two problems here.
First of all, I already made a February payment, which they actually acknowledge on the bill. Second of all, this bill that I don't actually owe anyway had a due date of 2/14/09, which is the date that I received the bill, making it absolutely impossible for me to make a payment on time, even if one was due.
I tried calling Saturday, but of course they don't have staff on the weekends. I'm lucky they're open today.
One thing I find amusing, by the way, was that I was given two automatic messages about how they are experiencing unusually long wait times and that I can handle a bunch of stuff online, etc. And then was instantly connected to a person. I tried to be polite since it's not this guy's fault that his company sucks, but sometimes it's hard. He's looking into it. They have terrible hold music.
All right. Edward took care of it for me, supposedly. I signed up for e-mail notifications of when my bill is due. Grrr.
