We're leaving for Vermont early tomorrow morning so I figured I'd do the weekly post today.
Had the glucose test today. The hard part was avoiding all sugars all day today. Had to drink this stuff that tasted a bit like that McDonald's orange drink you'd get at large picnics, etc. as a kid. Not too bad, but did get progressively grosser by the end.
Waited around a little while and then met with a new part-time midwife. She was very nice, but was not quite as much a pro at drawing blood as the other two midwives we've seen. I had to convince her that drawing from the top of my hand, while it does suck, will be easier in the long run as it gives blood better and reduces the amount of times I need to be stuck. She was doubtful, but did it, and acknowledged that I definitely knew what I was talking about. It still hurts, though, which didn't happen with the other two ladies. Oh well.
I gained five pounds this month. Still not the greatest, but much improved from the last visit. She felt my ankles and noticed they were a little swollen. There's only really been two nights in the past week that I truly noticed it and both nights I had been running around on my feet a lot.
When she listened to the baby's heart on the doppler, both the bacon bit and I were on a bit of a sugar rush from that drink and the little critter was quite active. There were a couple times that John could actually see my belly move from where he was sitting a few feet away. That was wild.
